Dorathy's Pov
"Make sure you finish that food,"my grandma told me.
"I'm eating Grandma." I responded.
"Can you see that you are losing weight? You need eat more Dorathy."
"I'm trying to eat, I just don't have the appetite these days."
"Really? Health is more important than job, health is wealth." Grandma said.
In the midst of unemployment, I found happiness in an unexpected place– the constant encouragement from my Grandma. I had been battling with the experience of unemployment, my appetite for both food and success dwindled everyday.
When the waves of rejection letters and failed interviews crashed upon me, it was my grandma who stood as a pillar of support for me. She never let me overthink or become depressed.
"Thank you Grandma." I told her.
"You are welcome, my baby." She said with a smile.
"Baby?Grandma, I'm a full grown lady." I told her.
"Whatever, you will always be my baby." She said as we both laughed loudly.
"What of Emily?" Grandma asked.
"I haven't heard from her, maybe she is busy" I said.
"Ohh okay, I made the food for both of you, I thought she would be here by now since she said she was coming around by this time."
Emily was my best friend, she had a job and she was from a rich family.
A few moments later, Emily knocked on the door and came in when we were still talking about her.
"Good morning Grandma." Emily greeted.
"Morning Emily, I was just asking you from Dorathy."
"Ohh really, thank you ma."
"Please sit, I made the food for both of you." Grandma said, serving Emily on the dinning table as we all ate together.
As she entered, there was a combination of excitement and anticipation shown all over her facial expression. Before I could ask her about the reason behind her impromptu visit, she burst out to share the secret that she held.
"I've got something wonderful to share," Emily shouted, her eyes gleaming with enthusiasm.
She continued in explaining the job offer that held the promise of a new chapter in my professional journey.
It was the work of a secretary which showed an opportunity that seemed tailored to my skills and aspirations.
When she narrated the story on how she secured the slot for me, it became obvious that Emily had been working behind the scenes, using her influence to get a job that matched my goals.
"Can you now see? I told you that everything is going to be fine" Grandma told me.
"Yes Grandma, you did. Thank you so much Emily, you are such a wonderful friend. Your type is rare and I am grateful for this genuine friendship." I said looking at Emily.
"It's nothing, you don't need to thank me Dorathy, what are friends for?" Emily said.
"I love you both." I said as I hugged grandma and Emily.
As we enjoyed the joy of the moment, Emily became not just a messenger of good news but also someone that encouraged me.
She believed in my capabilities that connected me to a job offer, this made me more confident in myself.
That morning, we talked extensively about dreams, aspirations, regrets and the possibilities that the future held. It showed that a true friend will always stand by you during challenging times and will also contribute to your growth and success.
Even though Emily had secured a slot for me, I still had to go for an interview and get the job officially from the CEO. So the next day I went to the office for the interview with the staff of the company.

It was morning already, and I was nervous about the interview. I ate, bathed and dressed up. As I went out and took a bus that was heading to the office building, for an interview that held the promise of a new chapter in my life.
Realizing that I want the position of a secretary at Gates's company, made my heart beat faster with a mix of excitement and anxiety.
When I got to the reception, I saw luxurious and magnificent furniture. As I sat waiting, I could hear the sound of my heart beat echoing in a silent environment. I saw other staff members who engaged in work conversations and I wished to be part of them.
When it was time for them to interview me, I was led into a well-organized room where a group of interviewers awaited. Their questions were challenging, it became an issue as I demonstrated my expertise in my experiences and skills. With each response, I aimed to communicate not only my competence but also the sincere passion that I had for the role of a secretary.
"So why do you think you are best fit for this position?" A lady asked.
"Apart from my experience and expertise, I have the passion to be a secretary in an organization. I will work with my colleagues, I will pay attention to details and work with deadlines, I can also work under pressure." I answered.
"So in a case where the CEO shouted or embarrassed you in the presence of a client, or fellow staff member. What will be your reaction?" Another lady asked.
"For him to have shouted like that, I should have done something wrong or I should have provoked him. At that moment I will keep quiet about why he acted that way, he is my boss and I can't disrespect. I will go and meet him later to ask him what I did wrong and how I can be a better secretary. That shows humility and demonstrates professionalism." I said with a smile.
I was asked a few more questions in which I answered appropriately, I was told that they would get back to me as I left with the hope of getting a positive response.
Few days later, I got a call from the HR department breaking the news that I had been eagerly waiting for.
"Hello, Is this Dorathy Jones?" The HR asked on the phone conversation.
"Yes I am." I responded as my heart beat increased due to anxiety.
"My name is Elizabeth, I'm the HR for Gatess company and I want to let you know that you have secured the position of secretary to the CEO of Gates company, you are to resume officially tomorrow. Congratulations Dorathy
Jones." She said,
At that moment I was the happiest person on Earth, tears of joy rolled down my cheeks as I thanked the HR. After several disappointments, I finally got a good job.
