Chapter 1 - Chapter One

The Bad Day

A young female figure was sleeping like a baby, her leg dangling off the side of the bed, her upper body sprawled across it. The sound of a phone ringing abruptly pulled her from her sleep. Groggily, she reached for the phone beside her nightstand. With one- eye half open, glanced at the time and her brown eyes widened in disbelief. It was 7:15am
"Oh my God! Angela Collins, why? You have an interview this morning," she muttered to herself.

She hastily grabbed a towel from the rack and hurried to the bathroom. After a quick shower, she rushed to her closet, selecting a sleek black skirt and a blue top. She paired them with her favorite black heels fully dressed and prepared, she hastened to the kitchen and grabbed two chocolates from the fridge, tossing them into her bag before dashing out the front door. She sprinted to the bus station, glancing at her watch: 8:30 a.m. fully aware that buses in Europe arrived earlier and depart a few minutes before 9 a.m., she tapped her heels impatiently, inwardly growling.

Angela Collins owned a striking appearance at the age of 24, with brown eyes and alluring lips. Her round face and baby-like features made her appear gentle, yet beneath that facade lay a determined, resilient young woman. Her appearance could be deceiving but provoke her and her fierce nature would surface. She was deeply loved by her father, and she was just a few days shy of her 25th birthday. Her mother had passed away when she was just four years old due to financial constraints preventing her from receiving necessary surgery, leaving her father to raise her alone. Under family pressure and facing the decline of his café business, her father eventually remarried. Her's stepmother gave birth to a delightful little brother, Simon. While her stepmother cared for her, she resolved to forge her own path and assist her family. Having relocated from Europe to New York city a year prior, she had been unemployed in this unfamiliar environment ever since. Just two days ago, she came across a headline on the internet of a prominent company seeking for a personal assistant to the CEO. To her astonishment, she had been selected for an interview today, chosen from a numerous applicant. The interview scheduled for 10 a.m. the following day. She had been too excited to sleep last night after receiving the call, and now she found herself running behind schedule.
Currently, Angela glanced at her phone and saw that it was 9:01 a.m. in a state of irritation, she rose from the bench and began to stroll, hoping to secure a helper that will assist her to her destination.
"What a day!" she muttered to herself.

A Sleek, black Mercedes-Benz drove past her roughly, splashing water on her blue top. The sudden shock almost caused her to lose her balance. The driver noticed her wave in the rearview mirror and halted the car. Angela regained her composure and approached the vehicle, tapping on the ack set window with her left hand.
The window rolled down automatically, revealing an intimidating man in a suit and sunglasses, his face partially obscured. "Yes, what seems to be the issue little girl?" he inquired coldly, engrossed in his phone.

"Excuse me, did you realize you splashed water on me? And you're asking me that?" she retorted, frustrated and angry.

"Is that all?" he sneered, his voice dripping with disdain.

Angela stood there, mouth agape, like a statue. She slapped her cheeks, snapping back to reality, and noticed the car was about to move. She yelled, jumped, and waved her hands. "Jerk! Damn you! Idiot, asshole! Yeah, you!" She hopped up and down, shouting angrily, examining her attire. "Damn that guy... look at my dress, for goodness' sake! He has totally ruined my day." She pulled out a napkin and cleaned some of the stains on her clothes, hissing and muttering to herself, not noticing a tall figure standing in front of her.

"Do you realize who you're yelling at?" a voice uttered, sending a shiver down her spine.

Her heart raced as she slowly lifted her gaze to meet the figure. Her breath caught in her throat as she gazed at the man before her. A handsome young man in a black suit with black sunglasses, his hair tousled from raking his hands through it multiple times, looked intimidating and dashing with his alluring lips. Angela froze on the spot, observing him as he crossed his arms.

"Lost your voice, have you?" he blurted out, pulling her from her reverie.

She glanced at him and recognized the car that had splashed water on her. Anger surged within her. "So, you're the jerk who splashed water on my clothes, right?" she asked softly, attempting to sound stern but feeling childish in comparison to the man before her.
"Indeed? Is that why you're screaming like a child who lost a toy?" he retorted.

Angela stared at him, mouth agape. "Are you out of your mind? Do you lack the decency to apologize for your impolite and reckless behavior? Have you lost your senses? You're speaking to me in that manner what sort of person are you?" she retorted coldly, He quirked his brows and tilted his head a bit like he was daring him to do something about his actions expecting a slight apology for sincerity from him but got none.

He kept his gaze on her and she started getting uneasy, her heart beat hiked up. He grinned wickedly, admiring her confidence as he drew nearer. Angela froze but stood her ground as he loomed closer. "Welcome to my world, lady," he remarked before departing, entering his car, and driving away, leaving Angela gazing after him.

"This is absurd... What's the meaning of that? 'Welcome to his world'? That guy is insane. I hope I never encounter him again. He has bad luck; in fact, he has ruined my good mood this morning... No apology, no kind words, and he left me with his insensitive comment, leaving me in a state of confusion... Angela, you're super late for work; just hope you get the job, not after encountering that mysterious man." She whispered to herself, walking when she luckily spotted a bus passing by, boarding it and silently praying that she would reach the interview on time.
