Would he be able to protect the woman cursed to be his ruin?

Or would she end up destroying him?
Chapter 1 - WHO IS MY MATE?

DAMIAN'S POV
The sky is dark and the road is empty as I drive down to my mansion in the center of the pack.

I have had a very busy day, from settling disputes across the pack, to a business meeting with some investors.

But now, after the day's activities I can finally rest.
I pull up at the gate of my mansion, I press my horn at the large black gate and after less than a minute, the gate is opened for me to drive in, my guards at the gate now at me as I enter, showing their respect.
I drive past the well maintained garden out in front, giving the house a rather soft feel and I head to the parking lot at the back of the house.

As I step out of my Benz after parking, a guard bows at me and I throw my car keys to him, he catches the keys and goes to keep them with my other car keys as he walks into the house.
My house is painted in dark blue and white, with black roofs over the elegant building. Each design placed in the building is handmade. The mansion itself is filled with handcrafted woodwork and imported marble floors.

I take a moment to admire the grand entrance of my house with its sweeping staircase and high ceilings.
I get into the house and take off my jacket and loosen my tie, placing them both on an armchair.
Fuck, I am exhausted.
A maid rushes into the living room as I sit on the couch.

"Welcome back Alpha," She greets me, placing a tray of cold bottled water and a glass on the table.
She pours me a glass and stands beside quietly as I down the glass cup.

"You can leave," I tell her, dismissively wanting to be alone, she leaves and I pour myself another glass of water, quenching my thirst.
This was basically how almost every day in the pack went, I always came back exhausted from all the work I had to do.
In fact sitting alone in my living room became a ritual for me, it was basically just a way for me to collect my thoughts and relax, before I had my dinner.
I worked so hard for the pack, but my hard work had built the Red Moon Pack, from the weak, gullible pack it used to be in my father's time to one of the strongest packs in the entire city, back in my father's time, we used to be preyed upon by other packs looking to take over us and make us their slaves, but now, no pack dared mess with us.
It had not been easy though building the pack up like that, but I was happy with where we were now.

I sigh in contentment as I lay on the couch, with my head up and facing the ceiling.

"Excuse me Alpha," a maid calls out, interrupting my personal time.

"What is it?" I ask the maid, raising my head up to look at her.

"The cook said I should let you know that your dinner is ready, so should we serve it now or later?" she asks me in a timid voice

"Tell her to leave it for later, I am not hungry," I instruct her and she bows slightly at me, already turning to leave.

"Also, I am going to need more water," I say to her as I grab the remaining water in the bottle and finish it.
She nods at me before she leaves and I look up at the ceiling again.
It is not up to a minute again when I am interrupted.

"Alpha! Alpha!!!" A maid calls my attention.

"Just drop the water and leave," I say to her, not ready to open my eyes or face her again.

"Sir!!!" She calls my attention in an even more panicked voice and I grudgingly open my eyes to face her.

It is a completely different maid standing in front of me with no water in sight.

"Yes?" I ask her, trying to hide my irritation.

"What is it?" I ask her, impatiently.

"Sir there is a situation outside your gate," she replies to me in a panicked tone.

"What is happening?" I ask her, immediately alert as I take to my feet, standing up.

"I don't know Alpha, but the guards are trying to chase someone away," She explains to me and I sigh inwardly and I give her one more look before I rush out of the house.

What could be happening now?

Are we under an attack?

Who would dare to attack me, especially in my house?

Who are the guards trying to chase?

All these questions race through my head as I rush out of my house and head toward the gate. As I get there I can hear several noises coming from the gate side.
"I have to see him!!! Let me in!!!" A woman shouts angrily.
"No!!! We have told you that you cannot just see the Alpha without telling us why in the first place!!!" A male guard voice shouts back at her.
"And I have told you that I cannot reveal that reason to you, let me see the Alpha and I promise that you would not regret it," she says in a more desperate voice.
"What is going on here!!!" I ask my guards angrily as I approach the gate. The place goes quiet immediately as I approach them
"Sir, you need to see this," one of the guards says to me and he shifts and reveals an old woman standing by the gate
I recognize her.
She is Madam Koi, the pack's witch doctor.
"She said she had to see this night no matter what, and when we asked her why she could not come up with a proper reason, all she said was that she could only reveal why she was here to you," The guard whispers in my ear.
"What are you doing here? Why would you cause all this ruckus?" I ask her calmly, in a low voice, trying to control my anger.
She must have a very important reason for doing this, I tell myself.
Why else would she be here?
"I apologize for resorting to this Alpha Damian, but I just had to see you tonight," Madam Koi says to me, looking at me with those perceptive hazel eyes of hers.
"Against all means?" I ask her and she nods at me fervently.
"Yes Alpha, against all means," she echoes to me, her eyes still looking serious.
"Okay then, let us go up to my study, and have a private discussion," I tell her and I nod at my guards to open the gate fully and let her into my mansion.
The main reason I am condoning this is because, back in my father's time, Madam Koi used to be a well respected witch doctor, whose prophecies were never wrong, in fact she had saved the pack so many times with her predictions. But she had not had anything special to say for a long time now, seeing her outside my gate this evening was a huge surprise.
We get up to my study and I shut the door behind us and we sit down on one of the chairs.
"We are finally alone Madam Koi, so you can speak now," I tell her and she nods at me.
"Forgive me for troubling you this evening My Alpha, but I am here because of a dream that I had," she says to me, her voice is still low despite the fact that i told her that we are alone in here.
"A dream?" I echo, already feeling a bit annoyed.
Don't tell me that she came all the way to my house, made a huge scene because of some dream she had.
"Yes My Alpha, it was about you and your mate," she says to me, her hazel eyes reflecting panic and concern.
