CHAPTER TWO
Mona's POV
I opened my eyes to someone nudging my shoulder. I was having a great rest already. I jerked up suddenly, the memories of the previous night gradually filled my mind. Whoever was sitting next to me yelped up in surprise.
“I'm so sorry if I scared you” the girl lifted her hands in surrender. She had medium lenght honey blond hair, a cream flawless complexion. Her hourglass body was to die for. Her eyes were the most attractive I had ever seen.
“Where am I? Who are you?”
She smiled softly at me, stretching her hands towards me. Why was she acting so cool when I was just kidnapped here.
“ I know you're scared and confused, but you need to calm down. I'm Avena, Alpha Lucien's sister and this is the Dark Moon Pack. He sent me here to see how you are doing. I didn't mean to wake you up so suddenly. And most importantly, I mean no harm”
I took her hand slowly, she looked convincingly innocent
“ But why did he send you to look at me, your men accused me of being a spy, which I am not. Its just unfortunate that I was caught in the forest by them”.
“We have been fighting off attacks from rogue wolves for a while now. The men were given strict orders to not spare anything suspicious found on our borders. It's only strange and worrisome that a lady was found in the forest at that time.
She looked at my face with concern.
“You look totally awful. What were you running from? Did the the men do this to you? She asked pointing towards the cut on my arm.
I shook my head slowly.
“I'm sorry for asking these many questions but you look totally brutalised”.
“No they didn't. Some members of the Whitemoon pack did”.
Oh! You are from the White Moon Pack?
I nodded
Which member?
I couldn't speak further. I doubted she would believe me if i told her that my brothers hurt me.
“Well, I'm a doctor at the pack's hospital, do you mind if I examine you?”
Do I have a choice?
She laughed, “No you don't, I was given an order to check you and to ensure that you're fine”
“Umm….Okay, go ahead”.
“You'll have to change first. I've arranged some shorts and shirts for you in the bathroom earlier this morning ”.
“Earlier this morning? What time is it?”
“It's past 3pm”
What? I passed out over twelve hours. Well, my body was exhausted from all the stress that I had to go through. I went through the direction she pointed so I could freshen up. The bathroom looked like an entirely different room on its own. It had a stand in shower, with various heads for water. It had a long counter, one sink and two faucets. A gigantic well-polished mirror. The floor had white tile with floral designed bath mat on the floor. I slipped out of the rags I wore and threw them into the laundry basket.
I took a deep breath and gasped at the reflection of myself in the mirror. Bruises covered my skin in different areas from my shoulder, down to my toes.
Something must be wrong somewhere, why the nice treatment?
I took my bath quickly, and grabbed the clothes that Avena had set for me. Wiping my forehead, I opened the door and strode back into the room. I met Avena arranging her tools on the bed, a stethoscope, something that looks like a hammer and a blood pressure cuff.
“If you could sit at the edge of the bed a little so it would be easier for me to check you” I dragged myself slowly to the edge as she wrapped the cuff round my left arm and waited for it to count. Her eyes widened suddenly as she jotted something into her book, next she checked my breathing, her expression with every process becoming more worrying.
“Can you please lie on your bed?” She asked while writing in her book. I immediately did so as she placed a hand on my stomach.
“You can call me Mona” She raised her eyes to mine and smiled.
“Sure, Mona. I'll need to take a swab check of your inner— you would have to take off your shirt, don't worry it won't hurt at all, relax your nerves”
“Uhm… okay”. I removed my shirt and lied back down again. She repeated the previous worrisome expression, this time more intense than the former. She dropped her book and started poking and gently proding. She asked if a side was tender, if a part was sore. She gave a serious look when I said no. So I relaxed a little and was honest. She grabbed her book and scribbled furiously on it. She asked me to lift my shirt so she could check my back. As soon as I did, a loud gasp left her mouth.
“My goddess….” I quickly pulled the shirt over my back. I knew what my back looked like. I shut my eyes in embarrassment and pain. Before I miraculously escaped from Stefan's room, he threatened to kill me with a short knife which he always uses to torture me once he was in a violent mood or if I made any mistake. He would cut me as a means of punishment, hence the marks. My skin was jagged all over, it took time for all the wounded parts from my shoulders to my waist to heal completely.
“What in the world, how did you get all these?
I shook my head and sat up quickly.
“Alright you don't have to tell me, but I'm telling you that Lucien won't be pleased”
I flinched . “Why? What does he have to do with me? The last I remember, I was brought in here, confirmed as a spy, so why would he care?”
What on earth makes you think that he doesn't care or that he doesn't know you? She asked wide-eyed.
