Chapter 1 - Chapter 2

Sonia's P.O.V

I decided to trust Dylan. After all, he was my guardian. He was the only person in the pack who would put up with my nature. Dylan was simply the one who would continue to see me for who I was. But even when I found myself agreeing to what Dylan said, I knew that not everyone at the pack would see things the way Dylan did. And certainly, not everyone would accept me as a full member of the pack simply because of my nature. But Dylan has given me his word and I knew that he would hold not renege on his promise.

"Here she comes, the wolfless girl." "What exactly is she?" "I fear she might never find her wolf." These were the remarks I heard as I came walking to the pack house in Dylan's company. I tried as much to ignore the words I heard but they kept playing in my head over and over again.

I knew Dylan also heard these words but he walked past as if he heard nothing and I followed in his wake. I was not Dylan and so the my eyes began to tear up again as we walked amidst the crowd that called me names.

We finally reached the pack house Dylan marched me off straight to the kitchens were I met Bernard the cook. "Take care of her Bernard. Make sure she never leaves the house." Dylan instructed the old man and he nodded his affirmative. Dylan then turned towards me. "Help out Bernard please. It'll take your mind off the events of the day." He said.

I nodded my response and after considering me for a while, Dylan left. I stood there sniffing loudly and thinking of what to do next when Bernard called out. "You gonna stand there and mop the floor with your tears a day or what?"

I immediately went closer to the man and began my job which was the only thing I literally did in the whole pack.

"I heard what happened kid." Bernard said. "I'm sorry about that."

I swallowed hard and remained calm. There was no way the others would get me riled up again about what happened on that hill at the temple of the moon goddess.

My work in the Kitchen's continued until Bernard sent we out to deliver the Beta's food. I summoned courage and walked out into the passages that led to the Beta's quatmrters. It was when I did this that I realized that this was a bad plan after all.

",...here she comes." I heard someone said and I looked up to see one of the servants eyeing me carefully. I hurried along my way and into the Beta's quarters. The man was not there from what I could tell but I proceeded to place the food where I normally placed it.

I turned and was about to leave the room when I heard voices softly coming from another room of the house. I would have continued on my way and left the room but something caught my attention immediately. I was very certain that I had heard my name pronounced so I approached the door carefully and listened.

"She's just going to stay and keep on wasting our resources?" Voice snapped angrily and I identified this voice to be belong to Magnus one among the council of cloven feet the elders who ruled the pack alongside the Alpha.

"....i brought up this same thing." The Beta's voice came in. "Your words are indeed true. The girl is a weakling. She's never going to be otherwise!"

My eyes welled up with tears again. I tried to back away from the door but then my foot caught the stool on which I had earlier placed the food and in a jiffy, the food was spilled on the floor making a loud noise in the house.

"Who's there?" The Beta asked from within.

I was not going to hang around explain what had happened, no. I turned immediately and I ran out of the house. I didn't even head out to the kitchen but I ran straight out and into the forest where I vowed I won't be returning again to the nightshade pack.

I was walking on aimlessly when I heard the crack of a stick behind me. I stopped and wheeled round quickly. There was no one behind but all of a sudden a feeling rested upon me and I felt as if I was watched. I continue quickly on my way and the feeling of being watched increased and I could swear that I was being followed too. I wiped round all of a sudden and that was when I came face to face with a man standing calmly before me as if he had been standing there all along.

My heart beat increased immediately as he grinned at me. I quickly identified the man for what he was. He was a rogue wolf!

I stared at him in surprise and awe and he stared back at me. Just then I noticed others emerging out of the trees and making their way towards me. At this point my heart sank heavily.

I slowly began to move back from the one who was directly in front of me and then, my foot caught up on a tree root and I crumbled to the ground while the rogues descended quickly on me.

"Get up lovely" one of then said, smacking his lips while he regarded me with cold eyes.

"She's beautiful and fresh...." Another one said besides me.

Rogues were sometimes dirty and narrow minded just like the ones who had cornered me. I knew that to screame would be in vain so I could not bring myself to do so. I felt my tears streaming down my eyes as I registered myself to my fate in that forest but then the unexpected happened.

I saw a blur and then the next thing my eyes registered was the bleeding body of the rogue that stood before me as he crumpled to the ground never to rise again.
